CaptainU’s Winter 2014 College Coaches of the Year were just announced and we want you to “meet” the coaches themselves.
Coach Reynolds was hand-selected by our committee for his 10th consecutive NCAA Division II Men’s national title and his 5th Women’s title in 6 years.
Congratulations Coach Reynolds!
How did you get into coaching your sport?
After Swimming at Drury and being a graduate assistant and then assistant coach the position came open. I applied and was given the chance by the university. I have been here for over 30 years now and wouldn’t change it for anything.
What do you like most about being a coach?
I think I like seeing kids succeed. Not only in the pool, but in life. Getting to be a part of their lives and seeing them grow and develop into outstanding people is probably the most enjoyable thing about coaching.
What are you most proud of from this past season?
I think seeing the way our seniors led this team and how the team handled the pressure of having the target on their back was a highlight for me. Our women swam so incredibly well and supported each throughout the entire National Championships. It was truly a team effort. And for the men to win their 10th straight title was pretty special.
